Rib'e Lugá after October 31: if you did not register
Registration for Rib'e Lugá closes on October 31, 2026. From the next day nobody else can register, unless the government announces another extension, and none has been announced today. If you registered in time, your application stays in process: the closing does not affect it. If you did not register, you remain without a permit, and only the regular routes are left, which as a rule are applied for and awaited from outside Curaçao.

Will it reopen?
We don't know, and nobody can promise it to you. Registration has already been extended once, from the original period of about 3 months from May 1, 2026 to October 31, because, according to the government, part of the target group needs more time and guidance to complete the registration. So far no further extension has been announced. If the government announces anything, we will publish it in Updates with a link to the official source.
If you did not register: the options left
The regular routes still exist: the work permit, the permit for family members of a resident or the one for your own business. The difference with Rib'e Lugá matters: on those routes, the first application is, as a rule, awaited outside Curaçao. Rib'e Lugá was precisely the way to do it while being here.
Staying without papers is not a neutral situation. The admission and expulsion law punishes being without a permit with up to 3 months of detention or a fine of up to XCG 1,000, and giving false information to obtain a permit with up to one year in prison; we explain it in what happens if you become undocumented. And an expulsion order, if it comes, can weigh on any future application for years.
Beware of the «late registration»
After the closing there will be offers to «put you on the list» or to register you «with an earlier date». They do not exist. Registration was done only online, at ribeluga.cw, and nobody can reopen it for money. A false document doesn't just cost you the money: it taints any application you file later. If you registered: while you wait
- Keep everything. The proof of registration, the proof of payment and every email from the Toelatingsorganisatie.
- Write down the date of every letter. If it is a refusal, your 6 weeks start on that date, not on the day you read it.
- Have the originals ready. On the day of collection you must bring in original your valid passport, your apostilled birth certificate and your certificate of good conduct.
- Can you work while you wait? We have not found it confirmed in any official source, so we will not state it. If it matters to you, ask the Toelatingsorganisatie in writing.

Can I register on November 1 if I'm almost ready?
No, unless the government announces an extension. The deadline is for filing the application; what was already filed continues.
I registered but haven't had an answer. Does the closing change anything?
No. The decision period is up to 6 months from when you filed, and it can be extended. Closing the registration does not shorten it.
I arrived in Curaçao after November 13, 2025. Does any of this affect me?
Rib'e Lugá was never for you: it requires having been in Curaçao before that date. Your options are the regular routes.
