Consulates in Curaçao: renewing a Venezuelan, Colombian or Dominican passport
A valid passport is the number one requirement for almost any procedure in Curaçao: a residence permit, Rib'e Lugá, opening a bank account. The island's three largest Latin American communities all have a consulate here. These are the details their own official pages publish.
Venezuela
- Address: Scharlooweg 9, Willemstad. Phone: +599 9 461 4140.
- How to apply for a passport: first you must be on the consular register and file the application in the SAIME system; with that you book the appointment at the consulate. On the day you bring the printed SAIME form, a copy of your birth certificate and your Venezuelan ID card (original and copy).
- Cost: the consulate charges a consular fee of US$120, on top of whatever payment SAIME asks for in its system when you apply.
- The consulate warns against making transfers or deposits through collection networks.
Colombia
- Address: Hanchi Snoa 25, Willemstad. Phones: +599 9 461 4663 and +599 9 465 0008.
- Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 14:00, no appointment needed.
- Passport cost at a consulate outside Europe: US$86 for the ordinary passport and US$175 for the executive one, according to Colombia's Foreign Ministry. Ask the consulate which payment methods it accepts.
- It is done in person: your photo and fingerprints are taken at the office.
Dominican Republic

- Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 16:30.
- Appointments: procedures are handled through the official portal servicios360.mirex.gob.do. The passport fee is not listed on the consulate's page: ask when you book.
Beware of fixers
No one can "speed up" an appointment or make a passport arrive sooner in exchange for money. Pay only what the consulate or its official portal says, and be wary of anyone who asks you to transfer money to a private account.
