Driving license in Curaçao for the first time: Exam, costs and appointments
For those who cannot do a direct exchange of their home country license, the only path is to take the exams on the island.
1. How to book an appointment?
You must go in person to the Driving License Department (Publieke Zaken) located at Sta. Rosaweg 36. Waiting times for the practical exam can be up to 4 months. SITA is only used at the end to print the card.
2. The Exams: Can it be in Spanish?
You must first pass the Theory Exam. The official written exam is in Dutch or Papiamentu. However, you can formally request to take the theory exam orally in Spanish or English.
3. The Car for the Practical Test
The government does not provide a vehicle. In practice, you must use a driving school car (rijschool) because it requires special insurance and dual controls.
4. Official Costs
- Theory Exam: 105.00 ANG.
- Practical Exam: 125.00 ANG.
- License Issuance: 95.00 ANG.
